Posting the Sarmiento97 goal made me thinking of other moment from last season .....

The more I watch that the more I admire Liefs pass and Clarkes run which effectively created the space for the shot.

Compare to England with Trippier stopping and cutting back or Walkers underlapping which created no space

I saw the comments from Morsy about Bagott training as a left back, which is good if he doesn't go out on loan.. If we aren't going to bring in another left back, then it makes sense to try and develop Bagott there, we can't go the route of having a right footed left back, it ruins everything we've done over the last couple of years with our shape and phases of play.

Having a left footed LCB and left footed left back is a perfect blend and when it's not used together you really do notice the difference (Edmundson cameos, clarke filling in on left for example)

a niche perspective

Not forgetting the Wolfy, Clarke, Morsy, Chaplin passing to create the spare man and space for Leif, the entire move even before that clip was a goal of the highest technical quality, with every pass and movement done for a specific reason.

Massive shout out to Hladky too !!

Hope everything goes as planned at Burnley for him , really hope so

Conor’s goal v Hull for me was superb , I’d put it alongside the Burns goal

Another goal I really enjoyed was Moores one at PR vs Rotherham (I think) which again started at the back but was build down the right

2.16 on here

Connor Chaplin's first time pass to switch the play was the key that unlocked how good the whole move was to become - brilliant - just brilliant!

...I suspect we'll be just fine in the Premier League, as we've been playing Premier League football (better than a lot of Premier League teams) for the last two years
The new additions will have been targeted to settle quickly & ably, into our 'identity', so Ipswich Town will pick up where we left off
I've said it before ...something special is happening at our club...

This was my favourite goal of the new era for a time.

Back to front so efficiently. Burns and Broady on their "wrong" sides too.

But back to the Burns goal. Can you imagine if he scores a similar one in the Prem? There'd be a media meltdown.

It’d probably get brushed over in the Premier League due to the fact that one the very same day Grealish decided to wear a different coloured headband

Again another one of those “goals” but I think partly I’m blinded by being fortunate enough to be there that night. Great goal all the same but it was the slightly delayed celebration but then THE celebration itself - great timing too !

The switch is vintage Chaplin. The only player I see attempting switches like that so regularly is Bruno Fernandes, they come out of nowhere - sometimes he'll receive the ball from a throw and just volley it across the pitch knowing his full back should be there to run onto it. It doesn't even need to be a pin point pass because there is so much space on that side of the pitch.

I loved his Sunderland goal, just stood there while Sunderland players followed the big players and Chappers had a free header. That delivery from Leif on that and many other occasions, just wow.

For reference ….and had forgotten about that JC goal for them as well . Let’s hope watching his goal is a omen then

But yeah - Leif’s delivery and the work buy the other players taking them away from CC was superb. Great goal !
