Humphreys 09:19 - Aug 26 with 2270 views | FrimleyBlue | Really hope they stick with him in the 10 role. I feel personally if they use him in the middle he will be a solid player still but think he has the attributes to really go far when higher up the pitch. He's got the feet. Got the passing ability. He's shown not just Saturday but he has scored goals in his brief showings for town. Really chuffed for him and hope to see many more goals for him this season.

Humphreys on 09:26 - Aug 26 with 2211 views | MK1 | Unfortunately, unlikely to ever feature for our first X1 again. Sorry, but the reality is, we are buying young players now to improve and sell on. I would love him to be able to come back here and force his way into the starting X1, but with the signings we have made and likely to continue making in the future, sadly I think his time here will be up. He will have a very good career at Championship level and we can always call him one of our own.

Humphreys on 09:26 - Aug 26 with 2205 views | ArnoldMoorhen | This time last year I wished that we had loaned him and El Mizouni together to a good League One team, so that they could get used to playing together ready to be late game subs this year in our Championship consolidation season, and be ready to replace Morsy and Luongo next year. Things have kind of changed! *If* we are relegated, he will be ready to play a big part next season. If we stay up it will be difficult to see how he forces his way back in.

I don't know. IF he continues to excel in a 10 role, he could become part of our rotation there, as we'll always need numbers with the substitutions we make. But probably more likely in the Championship if we get relegated I guess. If he reverts to central midfield then I agree, little chance of playing for us there again as things stand.

Depends how he progresses this year. If he has an outstanding loan, then he'll be useful player to have around in the Champ. KP and Cajuste will be gone. Morsy will be 34, Luongo out of contract. No one knows, the odds are prob against him, but I'm not gonna rule him out just yet. He does of course fit our business model perfectly. [Post edited 26 Aug 2024 10:00]

Agree as a midfield player, but some suggest a 10 role, which for me, would be out of the question, unless we have a fire sale upon relegation. If we stay up, then expect him to be sold/loaned again regardless.

I already said hes only likely to play for us if we get relegated.

Not arguing with you, just as a midfielder. Others have said as a 10 which I don't think is reality. No disagreement from me on the relegation only front.

Humphreys on 11:03 - Aug 26 with 1633 views | PioneerBlue | The chances are always stacked against players, very few really make it let alone to be a PL player. It’s a bit early for me on Cam, he has a knack of finding the net when he does get games. He has a good engine but seems too small for CMf and not experienced enough defensively for LWB. Let’s see how he gets on hopefully with plenty of minutes before we write another player off. KMcK likes him, it’s how and the speed at which he develops in game situations now.

Humphreys on 12:04 - Aug 26 with 1469 views | BloomBlue | Physically he needs to develop a little bit more, but footballers are human our bodies all develop at different rates. Jack Clarke being the perfect example. Spurs bought him for his potential, but immediately loaned him back to Leeds as they knew he wasn't physically strong enough for the Prem. After the loan finished, Mourinho once again sent him out on loan because Mourinho felt he still wasn't physically strong enough for the Prem. Eventually he moved permanently to Sunderland in L1. But now he's back in the Prem. As i said a perfect example to Humphreys that you can physically improve. No reason why Humphreys cannot come back next season and play for us.

I think lack of pace will always find him out at prem level, reminds me a little of Dozell, no one is quite sure where he fits in, hence experimentaion of trying to turn Cam into a left back, an idea which was quietly dropped, probably due to his lack of speed.

Humphreys has been around for so long that I think we forget how young he still is. At the age of 20, he is three or four years short of his peak yet. There is, as you say, more development to come, in physical attributes, skill levels and experience.
