Things I learned tonight. 21:55 - Aug 28 with 3927 viewsbsw72

Some of our squad aren’t good enough. Some of the new signings have got great promise. There’s a lot of knee jerk reactions on here during matches.

On paper we should have won. Based on the stats we should have won. We need another option up front.

Strangely though I’m not disappointed, I don’t think we would have conceded those two headers with Greaves on the pitch and look forward to having him alongside O’Shea.

Finally I think the biggest thing was how much we missed Morsy, not that Cajuste or Phillips were poor, just that Morsy has an effect on the team that is hard to define.

Couldn't agree more, I don't feel anything after that loss. Bit like Maidstone last year. Just need to move past it and focus.

I agree with both points about Greaves and Morsy.

But I think Phillips or Cajuste could be a Morsy, they just need to be told what to do in training. Then we won't be so reliant on one man.

Who in our squad isn't good enough to play against L2 opposition?

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

100% they can. With a little more time we will have a number of leaders in the squad.

We had some serious quality on the pitch that I believe should have had more than enough to beat a League Two side. This was a game to gel surely.

It’s not about the opposition, it’s about how they fit into the new squad and what they do with better players around them. Everyone in our squad is good enough to compete with L2 players.

My point being this game in general doesn't mean a whole lot. I could have predicted what would happen before the game even started. Like last season we have one objective, one objective that means so much more than a run in the Carabao cup. If anyone suggests otherwise, your absolutely deluded. If todays loss, means we concentrate and survive in the prem, I know exactly what I would prefer.

What I learned was we started with most of our new signings against a L2 side and didn't win. We clearly need to gel but individual ability should be enough to see Prem players beat a L2 team. Don't understand this sudden, some of the players aren't good enough.

I totally accept its a pointless cup, but we need to gel very fecking quickly.
The international break could help, but with a lot of players away not sure.
I'm still confident we'll avoid relegation.

I would add Woolfie to Morsy and Greaves.

My view on the players isn’t knee jerk. I really hoped that Taylor and Al Hamadi can be good enough, but I am struggling to see improvement, not just tonight but going back into last season. Appreciate Al Hamadi is coming back from injury, but I can’t see it. Still got a question mark around Harness and Chaplin showed some glimpses of his form from first half of last season. I reserve judgement on the new signings as they need a little more time, same with Burgess, can’t judge him on a single rusty performance.

I don’t think the players not good enough is a sudden thing, Players like Taylor and Harness were not regular starters last season in Championship, it’s no surprise. We should have been good enough with what we had but gave 2 poor goals away and lacked a cutting edge up front.

So you’re not disappointed that we’re out tonight and beaten by a League Two side.

So you didn't learn it tonight then?

To be honest it remains to be seen whether the players you mentioned are good enough for the premier league. Most probably won't get the chance to prove it. But they were all certainly good enough to play a part in a back to back promotion winning side, and all would certainly be good enough to beat Wimbledon if the weren't playing alongside complete strangers

Guess not. Such is the nature of modern football.

Things I learned tonight? We haven't had many penalties over the past couple of seasons, but the ones we have had, f**k me Burgess should have been taking them - nearly broke the net

Poll: My morning poo-poo took 3 flushes to clear. Who do I call?

Of course I'm disappointed in the teams performance, not bothered about being out and i'm not going to grizzle myself to sleep over it.

Move on and focus on being supportive for Saturday.

Morsey? Who?

He's been the captain, the fulcrum, the rock and the heart of the team for years and there are still people who struggle to spell his name right.

Though I sense there's a whoosh coming my way.

“Some of the squad aren’t good enough?” - explain this. Who exactly? We’ve won promotion with that squad and the ones deemed surplus have moved on and been replaced to the tune of £100m so who isn’t good enough?

I have question marks over the odd signing and think we’ve over shot it a little with the numbers we’ve brought in but I don’t know who isn’t good enough and how they can be judged not to be so yet…
