And we have to provide acres of the west stand for the hacks?

Think it’s split up, they have another bit in the stand where the camera is.

...compared to pretty much every other one I've seen.

It totally dominates the West Stand.

At every other ground they seem much smaller and generally less obtrusive.

I did also note that the 'bit' in veiw was also not central and they have retained their premium seats in the centre

I'd assume that the sightlines might be a problem at PR? No doubt the myriad Premier League rules stipulate that there must be no obstructions to the view from the press box.

The various stanchions mean that the press box has to be as far forward as it is (I'd assume), which prevents the club from just allocating a shallower and wider section at the back of the stand?

Spot on. I made this point at Southampton last week and was shouted down. It feels like we've done it too well and sacrificed quite a lot.

I saw someone mention that the railings are due to be removed and replaced by perspex screens between now and the Everton match, which should hopefully reduce some of the impact.

It's still certainly far from ideal, though, and there have been a lot more seats impacted by it than just those who were forced to move in order to free up the required space.
