Interesting that the headline is ‘to be paid £950 a day’ but it's buried deep in the story that he's only working on this 1 day a week. I'd missed that until reading your post. Bankster thinks this is another 'gotcha' on the Labour government he hates, but actually, if this saves more than they're paying him then yes, this will be value for money. Great idea. Spoken like someone paid stupid amounts of money for encouraging people to buy stuff they don't need.

I guess it's the market or something.....he's on a fekkin jolly.... 'He is also a non-executive director of the Submarine Delivery Agency and HS2 Ltd, and was previously chief executive of parliament’s Restoration and Renewal Delivery Authority, as well as working as chief operating officer at the Ministry of Defence.'

City lawyers are £1k an hour. Want an Oracle consultant for an ERP system, £1.7k a day. Total non story. The real issue is that markets have reacted poorly to this budget as there is no tangible growth in this budget, just shovelling money to unions and the public sector bodies, which won't improve anything.

What I do has nothing to do with the government appointing someone to help save money - which is a good thing. And as it happens I'm certainly not getting paid stupid amounts of money. There is very little work for freelancers, has been like this for a long time, I'm struggling to pay my mortgage and have had suicidal thoughts about it. Maybe don't be a prick all your life.

Obscene isn't it. Edit....I wonder what they got on furlough to save them from spending any savings? [Post edited 1 Nov 2024 8:03]

Fair enough Dollars, unnecessarily personal so take it as a comment on the wider industry instead. Sadly pay has very little to do with what 'value' we provide to wider society in a true sense.

That's quite an odd leap you've made there conflating those 2. £50k annual investment designed to highlight areas where public spending can be more efficient doesn't sound a lot in the context of over 1 trillion of annual spend. 0.005% of savings pays back, I'm sure there are reasons to believe that's achievable with dedicated focus.

What you're all missing is that Bankster can tell the Government how to save a lot more for free. What could possibly go wrong?

Look after the planet for 1 1/3 minimum wage. Now there's value for money!!

Tho a minimum wage worker is putting things on a shelf in the supermarket, whereas this bloke will be in charge of picking through elaborate, multi-million pound contracts hedged about with legal challenges. Rather involves a different level of expertise, experience and responsibility. Which relatively few people will have. It's not about their value as a human being, but that of the work they are doing.

All these people using the market to be compensated for their education, knowledge, and skills…bl00dy plebs should know their place. |
Lol....did that sound good in your mind? Compensated for education now there's a concept.

I took looking after the planet to be either gardening, waste disposal or sewerage. As you say, suitably vague. I hope all is well with you (just read your earlier comment). You know there are plenty of places to seek help if you need it (financial, emotional, mental or whatever).

One and a third. I'm a biodiversity habitat consultant and creator Dollers. On Sundays I do a bit of God stuff but that is gratis. Edit....oh and with a BSc too, I feel that my education is not receiving the compensation I merit. [Post edited 1 Nov 2024 14:51]

Yes, but you get the joy of job satisfaction and the warm satisfying glow of doing good. Surely that is compensation enough. Pay is for those of us who do jobs we dont particularly like with the depressing knowledge that our true value to society is low.
