Presser 13:32 - Nov 22 with 6665 views | PhilTWTD | Process not that unusual due to their manager change, looked at the previous club as well as United. All excited. Taking everything into consideration, too much written on formations, other clubs we're played have played varying formations with back three, United have played three at back under Ten Hag. But manager will put on slant on that,

All managers he worked under at United had influence, and Michael Carrick. Jose gave opportunity to come into senior football, saw talent and personality he warmed to while workign with academy. Ole, fantastic person, fantastic man. Ralf, really good insight, not long before I went into management myself. Spend time with him to get insight into Red Bull model was great insight. Michael big influence.

Asked re Sheeran recruitment call, was it Szmodics. Wouldn't say but press officer Marcus Nash said, 'Not him, the other one that's scoring goals!'.

Had lots of big games last couple of years, know there's a lot of extra noise around games, is a nice buzz and adds excitement, but focus has to be on performance.

Been making steady progress, not always linear. Feel the team is improving, individuals are improving. Large majority of squad in better place than they were in the middle of August. Look at last three games, could have won all three. Leicester and Brentford, should have had a least four points across those two games. Margins are getting closer, but can't rest on that, have to back that up.

Bruno Fernandes said nice things re Kieran, fantastic guy, really good professionals. Has kept in touch with Martyn Pert and Lee Grant speaks to him regularly. Will have to work hard to keep on top of him on Sunday. Look forward to seeing him after the game.

Proud moment on Saturday? A special moment, no doubt about it. Some saw coming here as a gamble but I wanted the chance of being a manager and finding a project where I could do that. To be facing Man U in the Premier League at Portman Road after such a relatively short time is special. Not just about me, a landmark in the development of the club.

Injuries, Kalvin little issue, will be assessed, internationals back. George Hirst is going to be out for a while with the knee injury. Not sure on time scale, weeks and weeks but not months and months, scan next week. Opportunity for someone else. Greaves has trained htis week, decisions to make on him and Jack Taylor in terms of availability and minutes.

Omari trsined today, bruised foot from Tottenham game. Ali fine, has needed an opportunity. Broadhead groin problem - forget where he said that was now! - Burns had knock he'd had for a while. Dara doing well with back issue.

Other than Everton, all the other teams here would have felt the intensity on and off the pitch. If supporters want to make themselves heard, benefits team.

Amorim spent time at United under Jose, work experience type thing, but before Kieran's time in senior role. Asked re both having academic backgrounds, is the way things are developing. Amorim, fantastic record, I'm sure he'll do well in the job, but focus on Sunday. How get a big club moving having done that at Town. United might say similar things re position now as Town when he came in. Instilling culture, building infrastructure, identity, playing style and mentally, and taking it one game, one training sessions at a time. Step by step moving in a positive direction.

Players from academy who made biggest progress, Axel and McTominay cited first. Long list of other players who have gone on to have decent careers. Not many can make in Man U's team, Rashford, knew Mainoo a bit late in his time at United. Couple of years in academy there a massive privilege. Always good to see them doing well.

Asked more about summer interest. Every summer have had opportunities to go to other clubs, last summer more public. It's been a fairly regular occurrence. If you're a young manager who has had a really good impact and in previous roles, then there's always going to be interest. Narrative in football can change really quickly. Like to think I've stayed really level with the club and communication with Mark Ashton has been really honest, nothing done underhand, and it was my decision with input from Mark and other ownership at the club, was to try and have a successful year here.
