Process not that unusual due to their manager change, looked at the previous club as well as United. All excited. Taking everything into consideration, too much written on formations, other clubs we're played have played varying formations with back three, United have played three at back under Ten Hag. But manager will put on slant on that,

Asked more about summer interest. Every summer have had opportunities to go to other clubs, last summer more public. It's been a fairly regular occurrence. If you're a young manager who has had a really good impact and in previous roles, then there's always going to be interest. Narrative in football can change really quickly. Like to think I've stayed really level with the club and communication with Mark Ashton has been really honest, nothing done underhand, and it was my decision with input from Mark and other ownership at the club, was to try and have a successful year here.

I mean it's good about the transparency of it all.

But I think from that we can definitely think this is a one season in the EPL and then part ways regardless. I love him, but as soon as a big job opens, I think it will be his.

I was thinking the same.

Sounds like one year and then go if an opportunity presents itself. To be honest if he keeps us up, then we can't really blame him if he moves on to a bigger job if one comes up in the summer. Succession planning is going to be key.

I think that's fair. If he ends up joining us 11th in L1 and leaves us having kept us in the Premier league a few years later, with a chunky compensation into the coffers to boot then I don't think anyone can have any complaints about that. Would wish him well in that instance and back the new manager to take us forward.

Brought over from Northern Ireland to watch MU by father, first game v Coventry 93/94. Area of Ireland he grew up in Man U, Liverpool, Celtic or Rangers everyone supported those clubs. Favourite players Cantona, Hughes, Robson.

I think that was the game when David Busst broke his leg really badly.
I remember Peter Schmeical really upset at the sight of what happened.

A few on this board said one more year in the PL back in May amongst all the speculation. I agreed with that and wouldn’t begrudge him a move at the end of the season. It would still hurt though.

Why do journos and others keep asking about it at press conferences, in interviews and at fans forums etc? He chose to stay in the summer. That's the be all and end all.

Any further chat is for the birds until the end of the season when we see how we've fared, what jobs become available to him and if he's interested. Assuming we stay up, I doubt he's signed a long term deal on £5m a year to then walk off in the summer, unless it is an exceptional opportunity.

A big job has got to be available though, and my hope is one won’t be available come the summer.

This ages me rather, but KM was 8 when Bryan Robson left Manchester United.

Or its already agreed but town get a nice payday as compensation.

However I can't see him leaving in the summer. He hugged ashton and told him he wanted to stay so clearly he's passionate and wants to stick it out for a long while yet.

Is it asked that often?

Think it’s just relevant this week as he was massively linked with Man Utd in the summer and with their new manager having come in, there’s probably an element of them questioning if he has regrets etc.

Spurs job will be.
Maybe Newcastle, maybe a couple of others. Time moves quick.

Spurs is looking increasingly likely to be the most obvious fit I think. Not so big that they need a name to satisfy their global supporter base and shareholders, but big enough where its enough of a draw and step up. Great stadium, good squad of players, not to mention his history there, it would surely be a very, very hard one to turn down for McKenna. It would be a good move to be fair, they've won nothing in years and a bit like coming into Ipswich you do get the feeling the only way is up really, they could feasibly be a top 4 club under him.

It's normally at the top of the leg, on the inside, just below the pelvis.

Ha! Back in training as you'll have seen from the full write-up.

Such is football. And it would be nice to be in that position for once rather than having to pay off another crap manager that nobody wants.

I hope he stays of course, and that we do something really special here. But absolutely he’ll go with thanks and best wishes even if he leaves in the summer.
