Anyone else said goodbye tonight? 23:36 - Dec 24 with 3033 viewstextbackup

Knowing your last ‘believer’ will be a non believer next year?

Its been a great 12(ish) years, full off flour shaped boots and random stupid things we could think up!

That’s sweet. At 36 I’ve still never technically uttered the phrase..

I think my eldest is going that way, but will be too scared to admit it next year so should get another 2 or 3….will be a sad day when not putting my reindeer food and magic key outside amongst an ever growing list of things we need to do

Said goodbye to my boys dummies finally, as Santa had to take them to bring him gifts! Looks like it worked though!

Merry Xmas to you and the family buh.

I think mine have all figured it out by now but they're smart enough to realise that by playing along they get more presents!

The cat ate our kids dummies. "And you would not want us to cut open the cat to get them back would you"?

But the great thing about families is they then grow up and provide a whole new generation of Believers.

Think my eldest is getting that way, 2 or 3 kids at school have told him it’s just your parents and he’s only just turned 9. Think he’s starting to doubt it as is asking more probing questions. Hopefully got a couple more in the tank but he has a sister who’s 4 years younger so that will keep it going a while longer.

It will be very sad when it’s no longer a thing, as much as I’m shattered as I’m waking up to check they aren’t up at an incredibly stupid time seeing them in the morning and the build up should be enjoyed.

My kids are 22 and 26 and still show us what 'Santa' has brought them every Christmas day morning.

Our youngest is now 17. So obviously understands the reality, but in our home Father Christmas keeps coming until you are 18. So this is the last year of keeping up the pretense for us after 20 years (longer for her as she had kids already before I came along).

Those days are just about gone for us. The youngest has just turned 14 and there was noticeably less excitement than last year. Quite sad really. I loved re-living Christmas through there eyes when they were a bit younger. Between about 3 and 12 it’s magical.

I think you look back realise the Father Chrismas myth was sussed when you couldn't get them out of bed for Xmas lunch.

I am really, but I agree my post did sound rather harsh and cutting. Apologies to all parents (including the wife)
