Passing fluidity 21:29 - Jan 16 with 1724 viewsibbleobble

The game had gone by the time Taylor and Morsy came on but it’s noticeable the difference in passing fluidity through the middle when you compare Cajuste / Phillips to Taylor / Morsy. Morsy is great at shielding the ball but I counted 7 touches before he released it in our half when breaking.

Interesting second half of the season ahead in the middle of the park.

The passing and composure was really poor, perhaps it was the level of the opposition but Omari as an example failed to pass the ball to a team mate in a better position probably 9/10 times

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

People don't want to hear negatives about morsy but he's getting worse. He's slow. Ponderous. Turns back. Walks. Loses his man all the time. One of lower ground dual win ratios for his position

And taylor tries but we're comparing him to prem players and he's miles away.

But tbh thats the issue when you have basically got to replace a whole squad to cope in the prem.

We are close. But thats the fine line between staying up and going down. Being close doesn't help.

Windows still open. Not sure what KM can do. But let's see

At the risk of getting slaughtered, I do think we should have reacted to Brightons 3 subs earlier. However it worked for us in terms of late goals in the Championship but the EPL is a different step up imho.

Omari was poor tonight apart from that one shot in the first half. His decision making is really bad at times. Yes he’s young and learning but he and others need to learn quick. They all like being premier league players. They’ve got another four months before they’re championship players if they don’t step it up.

I felt like the subs had too much of an eye on Sunday and not the game in front of us. We don't have the squad to rotate our CM's and not drop off.

Strange observation. We’d lost the match before Morsy came on. We were poor in the first 15 minutes and terrible for all of the second half.

I actually think we missed him today. There was no focal point in us playing it out and Cajuste was anonymous today.

He's hot and cold, he was back to Omari at Arsenal tonight

Broadhead of all our players tonight, was the most composed in the final third

Don't think we missed Morsy at all. He was really poor when he came on, slow gave the ball away, gave silly fouls away. Cajuste and Phillips worked really well together but nothing up front today really.

McKenna did have a habit of making those subs quite late and they always tended to work, so in a strange way, I don't know how much he learnt from that

At times he does need to roll the dice a bit earlier

As in, it wasn’t on Morsy we lost but it’s evident the transition of play is slower. Maybe that’s no bad thing but if you look at the last 5 minutes when Morsy dictates the play, we get to within 25-yards of Brighton’s goal and they have everyone sat in tight, well drilled requiring a wonder strike or a defence splitting ball to open them up.

Our best chances come on the break when we play one touch balks around the corner to break into space.

Our best player at that tonight was Burns. I don't understand why he went off and Hutch stayed on. The latter was having a bad game and has just come back from injury.

I said at half time that Burns was doing well at beating his man and getting the ball into the middle… but unfortunately nobody was in the space that he was putting it into, as so many times before that same ball would’ve been perfect for Chappers coming onto, and often resulted in a goal.

That's probably Burns' best game for some time, not that the bar has been that high in the PL

Problem is tho that cut back Is also predictable that brihhton were able to get cover there.

There was one chance. Where burns had it and delap was on his own central all wes had to do was drill it across and delap had a shot on. But he cut it back and brigton cleared it with ease. It's those moments that make a difference.

Wes had a good game tho. It was between him and broady for motm up until ht for me.

I think taking wes off was a mistake unless we were bringing on a runner.

At least Morsy tried to get on the fromt foot foot and get the ball forward. There was so much safe play from Cajuste and Phillips that did not progress the ball.
