It’s probably a good job we’re not signing anyone else 17:32 - Feb 1 with 1194 viewsSarge

Both transfer windows this season, with the exception of Delap, Cajuste, and Enciso, have been utter disasters. Reckless spending on players that are nowhere near good enough and who do not deserve to have displaced the team that worked so hard to drag us here from League One.

I feel for Woolfy, Burgess, Chaplin, Luongo, H. Clarke, et al who deserved so much more than to be ousted at the first opportunity by Championship-quality players bought at Premier League prices.

I’m worried that our fans don’t seem to grasp the difference between the championship and the PL.

If you’re unsure - it’s absolutely enormous.

I know. Hence the questioning why we bought a bunch of Championship quality players to try and improve us in the PL. Do keep up.

Agree but it also probably raises the question why we spent a King's ransom on good championship players and didn't pilfer the European leagues for gems like Cajuste. Not just shovel money at Hull and Sunderland.

We bought top end Championship players. All three promoted teams were expected to be relegated, not without reason.

Given that expectation, which proven Premier League players do you think we would have been able to buy?

Fan expectation has leapt to "we should be staying up so losing to Southampton and being a point from safety is an utter disaster," though.

You’re entitled to your opinion, even when it’s so off the mark and wrong.

We’re building for the future within the financial constraints, and reality of who we can attract.

It was always odds on that we would be relegated this season. If we do, we will be stronger for the Championship, and have another season to continue to build for a return to the Premier League - with more funds available than before.

Our previous transfer windows have been spot on but this one, Delap excepted, has not been good with no major upgrades on what we already had.
Possible exceptions too are O'Shea and Greaves but note sure they are any better than Woolfy and Burgess.

The rest are just not up to this level.

What's worse is that we copied Burnley and replaced our tight group with too many new players and are about to pay the same price as they did.

Not sure Luongo and Harry were up to this level but most of the squad might have been so I thought it only needed 4 players as per the previous windows.

As Mick Mills said tonight its a nightmare keeping that big a squad happy.

I do question why we need Hutch, Broadhead, Clarke, Jayden. They’re all essentially the same player, and only Broadhead has consistently looked like he’s up to this level currently - Hutch in patches maybe.

They’re all young, talented and have heaps of potential ahead of them - but that isn’t what we need right now.

I’m a huge KMc fan, and am very very rarely negative about anything performance-wise, but I am disappointed in our transfer dealings since we have been promoted (Delap, Hutch and O’Shea aside).
