Somebody mentioning that we used a data analytics company to aid our keeper recruitment got me wondering.
We know he's always been keenly analytical, and over our previous two promotion seasons that's usually meant (amongst other things) inspired substitutions coming on to help win games.
This season however, his whole subs strategy seems to have changed, and not in a great way. I'm wondering what's making him stick with it when it sadly isn't proving successful? |  |

They’ve mentioned a couple of times on The Price of Football that in previous seasons we’ve subscribed to Tony Bloom’s analytics information, but now we’re in the same division as Brighton we can’t do that any more. Wonder how much of an effect that’s having? |  | | |

You can accept that one or two signings don't quite work out but a combination of a quicker than expected promotion to the premier league, a non-existant international scouting network (due to years of underinvestment) and some rather poor domestic acquisitions has left us in a precarious position. The current bottom 3 teams are going down, their goal differences show how far they are away from competing in this league. | | | |

I remember reading that at the time and thinking how on earth does he fit our style of play (based on what we saw in the first few games). This was back when we were thinking we’d carry on with our style from last year of course. He’s certainly no Hladky with his feet. |  |

Deary me thats really interesting. Literally a problem area for us and we're using this odd analytics site and its likely to be making their reputation sour.

Everyone side eyeing Ipswich with the large negative goal difference and the appearance of some issues at the back, then looking at goalkeeper.com and saying yeah nah. [Post edited 2 Feb 17:49]
