Yes, as stated, the dip in the road has been steadily getting worse for month's, it has no reached the point where big lorries must be doing some pretty major damage, even at 50mph. I didn't realise that it looks like that part of the A14 could soon be closed soon, is it even repairable?

Yep! There’s a really bad dip on the E/B side as you come over it, been getting progressively worse for the last few years now, always joke when I go over it that it’s going to give way soon!

Some pretty major work I’d have thought, although less major if they act now and now wait for it to collapse surely!
I live 4 miles from it. Not heard any issues locally. Highways agency & Health & safety will probably shut it for yrars waiting for public inquiry some legal bods will make millions out of it . in 10 years it will get rebuilt. In the mean time roads will be caos.

Lane closures were East bound due gdesil spillage, allederdly
We use the road whenever we drive the 2 hours for home games and can’t take the train, which thanks to the premier league ko times not caring about the supporters has been far more often this season. So I hope the road stays open. Imo the amount of freight on the road to/from Felixstowe doesn’t help.

Great video as usual from that particular youtuber, but a comment has appeared on the video from someone who seems to know what they're talking about, and it seems as though there isn't really an issue, it's a common problem just solved by piling some more asphalt on it.
Not sure you can blame it on the fens there. The edge of the fen proper is ten miles or more away, well the other side of Huntingdon. Of more significance, perhaps, is the River Great Ouse and associated gravel beds (some of which have been quarried).
I did notice the bump when going that way around Christmastime.

Yes, nothing to do with The Fens, Ouse Valley more likely the cause if there is a problem. If this is really the case then somebody really wants a spanking as the main reason the A14 upgrade was prioritised is because the viaduct near Huntingdon town centre, over The Great Ouse and the railway was due to fall apart rapidly.

Well w drive UNDER it on the way to Ipswich.. should see be worried?!
Seems like the video deliberately exaggerated the problem to me. It's probably settled out and will get resurfaced to correct the levels, and maybe it'll need doing again in 10 years time, but bridge collapse? Come on...

So a good thick layer of blackstuff and the problem is concealed
I guess it will show in a few years if the settlement has stopped or is ongoing
I can't imagine that re-engineering the bridge foundations will be a cheap or simple job

There's a comment on the video from someone who says that they've not noticed the problem as they only go under the bridge, not actually drive on it.
As the maker of the video replied, hopefully you and them won't find out just how bad it is while driving under the bridge at the wrong moment.

It’s not just this bridge - the little bridges over the new A14 are separating, for example the road to the Offords and Fenstanton where they have slapped tarmac into the gaps that have formed.

The one just north of Offord is really noticeable.

Isn't the main issue the raised banking leading to the bridges that has sunk not the actual bridges itself? Either way not ideal! Similarly the A133 towards Clacton (the bypass bit built about 25 years ago) had the exact same issue. The banking leading to the bridge over the railways line sank giving a jolt as you went up onto the bridge. Think they had to continually reinforce the banking for about 20 years with reduced speed limits, again presumably to reduce the impact on the joints...
