...what a huge week for Ipswich Town!

The essentials...

A striker - Sindre Walle Egeli or William Osula (although unlikely given Newcastle's situation)
A creative midfielder - clearly the club would love Hackney

The likely...

Woolfy out and Sebastian Caceres in
Barbrook loaned out

What else would we like to see happen?

Can't see Barbrook getting a loan, he is under 21 so wont count towards the 25.

One of Taylor or Humphreys might.

Ivanovic from Millwall. Won’t happen, but would be ideal.
Hackney won’t come. Middlesbrough have a lot more about them than we do. Edward’s has got them playing. Like his style or not.
A Morsy type midfielder who, I’m not sure.
A left back.

We have a Morsy style midfielder and a very good one. No need for another.

He’s a massive upgrade on Morsy, getting up to speed with the championship and was one of a few positives yesterday.

Wow. He will be good, agree there.

But one CDM with no experience in England, to mate TWO positions for 50 games.

Good luck.

We don’t have another CDM - even Jens isn’t ideal at that job, so would like to see us sign two and maybe move Taylor on (another signing who doesn’t suit McKennas system):

We never play a number 8…, ever.., and we have a few that can do that very well.

We ALWAYS play TWO 6’s and have one player in the squad. Who’s new to the league and country.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Like inverting Clarke, and inverting Leif, Taylor in CDM is McKenna yet again trying to get in his own way, proving he can change players strengths and traits.

Mass worked.., but he was always so naturally gifted facing his goal and on the half turn.., the others can’t do it, and never will.

He finally stopped inverting Clarke.., that was a stinker 12 mk th project which cost us a talented player, lots of results and was really poor from KM.

We really do need a CDM, Hackney can do it, lots of others too.., 500 inside forwards. If that’s the solution.., I’d love to know the problem.

Fair point - something I hadn't considered in my initial post.

For whatever reason (probably like most at the moment in terms of playing out of position) Taylor just has not worked this season and looks a real weakness. Humphreys has always struck me as a very tidy footballer.

We’ve spent a fortune already!

Rather try and get the current squad playing to their potential.

RIP Sir Bobby

Townsend's injury has left us a full back short, we haven't replaced one out of Morsy, Luongo or Phillips yet, assuming Humphreys counts as an 'arrival', and Al-Hamidi's injury means we're down to two strikers when we really need three. That's before we look at two multi-million pound wingers who, to date, McKenna has failed to get a tune out of.

Hasn't happened in 3 months. What makes anyone think we are going to get what we need in the last week?

Morsy wasn’t Morsy after 3 games.

He’s a very good player and yesterday showed that he can easily cope with the English game

‘What a huge week for Ipswich town’ sure we’ve heard that about 4 times over the last 4 windows.

Honestly people have short memories don't they! He looked quality for his third game in English footy.

The double promotion heroes are loved by all because they formed a ruthlessly efficient team who were brilliant and we loved them for it by the end.

However, along the way to becoming that team there were times where Morsy struggled to be effective, same with Burgess, Woolfie, Hdlacky, Burns, Harness, Davis I could go on.

It seems the expectation is that this time just clicks into place like the 22/23 & 23/24 season.

It's going to take time for the team to settle but we have to find ways to win games in the meantime, no getting around that.

Focus on top class CM.... Morsy-like. Matusiwa, Cajuste and the third CM can fight it out for the 2 starting spots.

If we can't get any decent front 4 players in... then don't buy any more squad fillers. Up to Mckenna and his coaching staff to get them firing. If Kmac is such a good coach... then he should prove it.

No where near Morsy in leadership very un respectful to our best captain in years.

Probably one of the most important weeks in the clubs recent history.

Sign the right type of players and there is a possibility of PL football again next season, sign no one or get it wrong there is the risk of relegation to L1 again. Town aren’t too good to go down!

ST, CM, LB.

Looks a pretty straight forward week in knowing what we need, whether we deliver on targets, remains to be seen.
