He's always been a poor defender and was hugely exposed in the Premier League.
In a team where you are not doing much defending he's a good player, but the moment he comes under any pressure defensively he gets exposed. |  |

Morsy was a great Captain and I was a huge fan. But he played a ball sideways and backwards as much if not more than our current midfield. He was a leader and never hid on the pitch.

You forgot Douglas. That powerhouse goalscoring midfield dynamo. I’m sure ‘proper bloke Duggie’ could still do a job. He’ll have not lost any pace.
Back to Morsy. I’m in two minds. He was clearly a a big, positive influence in the club and a terrific player, particularly when playing with Luongo. But he is never going to be the player he was and I’m not sure the positives of his return wouldn’t be outweighed by the negatives.
We have to move on from that excellent team. If he came back as a player coach, maybe that’d work? |  | | |
