I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised given what’s always happened throughout history. There’s something in some people that allows them to be utterly evil. In a similar vein there was a report on the last couple of days that the Russians are using drones to hunt civilians in Ukraine. Very much the same energy as this case; the same evil intent and lack of empathy. Just sick.

"An investigation in Bosnia itself appears to have stalled." "However, members of the British forces who served in Sarajevo in the 1990s have told the BBC that they never heard of any so-called "sniper tourism" during the Bosnian conflict. They indicated that any attempts to bring in people from third countries who had paid to shoot at civilians in Sarajevo would have been "logistically difficult to accomplish", due to the proliferation of checkpoints. British forces served both inside Sarajevo and in the areas surrounding the city, where Serb forces were stationed and they saw nothing at the time to suggest that "sniper tourism" was taking place. One soldier described the allegations that foreigners had paid to shoot at civilians as an "urban myth"." | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I remember stories at the time about it happening - but framed more as mercenaries travelling to fight for one of the sides in the conflict and shooting combatants, not civilians.

A friend of mine was in charge of the RAF contingent in that part of the world at that time. When I next see him (and a couple of mutual ex-MOD chums) I’ll them if they ever heard of such a thing. I’ve heard of pirate shooting tourism (fact or fiction) in the Red Sea but not that.
