Chaplin is the only one of our squad who seems to know how to play 10. He needs to be back here in January.

I absolutely love Chaplin. But he wasn't particularly doing it for us in recent times and has 0 goals and 0 assists in 15 games for Portsmouth and has seemingly been dropped.

I'll have no issue with him returning for us in Jan because the guy is a legend for me. But I don't think you drop him back in our team anymore and be suddenly changes everything.

Chaplin largely worked because (and it took time!) he build bonds and relationships on the pitch and we had specific patterns set up for him to be on the end of. We've evolved since then and have a brand new team. It won't just suddenly be the same for him.

And yet they have a 10. So he's not getting in there.

My point is Chaplin suddenly playing for us is basically like playing for a new team now. I love him but he isn't suddenly going to be lighting up the pitch. We will have very much the same problems.

I’d argue we don’t need him to ‘lighten up the pitch’
Just hold your position as a number 10, feed the wingers and work in rotation with Nunez.

I'd agree entirely about Akpom. Why anyone thought he was an upgrade on Chaplin is beyond me.
The same goes for loaning out Ogbene and throwing 12 million to Leicester for McAteer.
