It's hard to excuse a 5-3 defeat 17:11 - Feb 21 with 584 viewsGarv

Especially when we were 3-2 up, but ultimately it's only 3 points lost.

We knew this was going to be a difficult period. 5 away games in a row, albeit one of them not being played but still having travelled. It's ridiculous and feels unprecedented.

Before today, we won our last league game. Keep the faith.

*Disclaimer: I didn't watch the second half.

not to mention the damage to the confidence, or the way it'll effect how other teams view us/set up against us, or the feeling better fans and players.... but yeah, only 3 points

The biggest issue remains our woeful away form and performances. Yes, a couple of good results, but on the whole it’s been very poor away from home. It’s difficult to see us winning many more away, and this won’t help woth the confidence. We need to plan for two away games (yes okay Wembley is neutral) in the play offs as well. Difficult to see us winning those.

Oh yes. ONLY 3 points lost.

And 5 goals conceded

And the latest example of our team lacking the cohesion and bottle a promotion team needs.

In the weakest Championship in recent years.

BUT, nothing to see here

It's been mixed, if we're being objective. As mentioned, the last league game before today we had arguably our best away performance of the season..

Seems quite a popular position on here to cling to mathematical possibility rather than any type of momentum or performance or result logic.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Its hard to excuse....so don't excuse it. We are woefully short of being a proper team. When there is a team good enough to go at us toe-to-toe - and there aren't many examples of that due to the average nature of the Championship - we are found wanting. We should have (sorry McKenna should have) found a team that now is gelling. And he should have the ability to adapt team plans and shapes before the game and through a game. He isn't good enough to do that. For the resources and salary he has been given he should have a team that gets in the autos and with further spending has a shot at avoiding relegation. On that criteria he has failed/come up short. What is the plan now? If we fail to get up does he stay? If we go up how do we use the resources we will have to try to get enough players that can keep us up and gel quickly enough. I don't see enough progress since the later end of the Premiership season to say McKenna has achieved the building of a cohesive team that is perhaps 5/6 signings away from a team that can survive the Premiership. I think Ashton should see it that way too.
