Kipre's goal celebration 08:45 - Feb 22 with 760 viewsDJR

was fantastic.

And whilst we defended poorly, I don't think he could be said to be at fault for any off the goals.

Err yes he could. You don't defend a corner by standing rooted to the spot...you need ro get momentum to attack the ball.

Actually thought Kipre was pretty poor yesterday, goal aside.

Seemed quite error prone, even if his mistakes proved less costly that O'Shea's, that awful under hit back pass to Walton setting the tone.

That's though the position he takes up at every defensive corner, so it must be what he is told to do.

And the ball was over his head, so there was not much he could do about it.

But as regards attacking the ball, I think that is something we are very poor at when it comes to attacking corners, because most of our players tend to gather around the penalty spot, and there is no one coming from deep to attack, and adjust to the flight of, the ball.

Yes he did under-hit it but not fatally, and I thought the rest of his game was fine.

Think kipre has gone backwards.

Can't comment on yesterday so only previous games but when he signed his past showed a potentially liability as a cb. He did however seem to become really solid for us.. but I'd say the last handful of games he's looked really awkward. Sloppy with the ball. Dangerous near his own box.

But having seen the corner goal. That's the 4th this season he's lost the scorer.

Problem is I don't trust greaves either.

He made a poor pass which directly led to their 3rd goal. And that was probably the defining moment in the game because it gave them renewed confidence (we were in control of the game at 3-2).

As others have said, goal aside (which was a brilliant strike) I thought he was poor yesterday. Like all of our defenders.

The thing is though that Kipre and O'Shea don't have a man as such they mark.

They position themselves just inside the 6 yard box and are inevitably a bit static if the ball is not in front of them.

And sometimes teams just score at corners.

"He made a poor pass which directly led to their 3rd goal" - this. Maybe not directly, as there was plenty to do after, but it def led to their third. Kipre was much better than O'Shea yesterday, but this was a significant blemish.

Walton should have come for the corner. Flighted ball on the edge of the 6-yard box. Should have been the keepers to catch or punch all day long.

The whole defence struggled with Moore didn't they, Furlong look horribly out of position getting caught up the field a couple of times

All five goals came from bad mistakes rather than being cut open, it was a horror show

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I think you're clutching at straws if you blame Kipre for that goal. After his missed pass, Wrexham started the move 15 metres in their own half with the whole Ipswich team behind the ball.

But I do accept that Kipre has not been as solid in a couple of recent games as he had been, and maybe it's a bit of a savage indictment on Greaves that McKenna still doesn't seem to trust him to replace Kipre.

And what about my main point, the goal celebration.

He's been poor since the Sheffield United game. Should have done better for the corner and his passing back has been wayward.

I haven't watched it back, perhaps I should. But at the time, it seemed like he gave the ball away and a few seconds later, the ball was in our net. It was a poor pass and not the only one yesterday. All of our defenders looked shaky yesterday.

The interesting thing yesterday is that we didn't try to play it out from the back that much, and instead relied on Walton hoofing it long. But that rarely led to anything yesterday apart from losing possession.

Alex Mathie made a good point yesterday about our lacking someone like Morsy who had the ability to take the ball of the keeper and advance with the ball and so open up play.

We just don't at present have that in midfield, and thus it is often left to O'Shea or Kipre to make the telling pass forward which shouldn't really be happening.

We also lack a right back (such as Harry Clarke or Donacian) who is able and willing to go forward with the ball. And we don't even seem able these days to get Davies going forward that much.

The result is that we don't seem to be able to play in the fluent way that Wrexham did yesterday.
