Thought it was fairly clear, don't think he meant it, just very clumsy.

But without that, guy is easily through on goal.

Can't see how it wasn't DOGSO in that position. Definite shot on goal had he not been brought down.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

The striker threw himself to the ground, and threw his legs up to tangle with the defender.

Cheat.

He wasn't brought down.

But that's modern football.

The attacker was well in front of him heading for goal then decided to go across the defender diagonally. Defender can't get out of the way. So the attacker is denying himself a goal scoring opportunity.

That is Sithole's tournament over by no fault of his own. Doesn't sit right with me.

Having just watched it again, I've changed my mind. Think letter of the law, it's a foul, but he's absolutely played for it by throwing his legs back to force contact.

But unfortunately still a red even if the other guy essentially forced him into it.

Nothing wrong with that. Quite the opposite - it's always coached to go across your marker if you get in front of them, as they have to back off or risk fouling. SA matey bloke didn't back off and got himself in a right muddle. It's engineered for sure, but you see far more blatant cheating elsewhere on the pitch.

I'm. not accusing the attacker of cheating. I'm saying that the red card was unfair on the defender.

Is obstruction no longer a foul? South African had every right to robustly get the obstructing Mexican out of his way. This is football, not grid iron.
