I can’t get excited about a media money side with a League One fanbase pumping Coventry, who literally had to ground share with Northampton in the fourth division not long ago, it’s incredibly dull how Sky and co have in effect given clubs like Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford a huge advantage over clubs like Coventry. It’s not competitive at all.
Oh btw those fanbases also look at us as little Ipswich too, so no love for any of them. At least we were a success before Sky and Amazon bought it for that lot. Just hard work and some very good managers. |  |

You mean very well run Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford?
Because Burnley and Norwich and West Brom and Luton and Sheffield United and us have all gone up and had a shot at staying up and staying there for years.
Hull scraped into the playoffs in 6th and have started well. This year the team in 8th could come up and have that chance.
Don’t begrudge those going up who had their chance to stabilise. Some clubs just did it very very well. | | | |

Other than a few stupid fans on theirnforum regarding our transfers i'm not taking joy in that 5-0 though from our point of view it might be helpful i dont know..brighton were actually short of some of their best players and lost Wellbeck of course. No Minteh or Mitoma and they win 5-0. Cov should have scored today.
Lampard has no other ideas then one way of playing Madness not changing it with the red.
Gary O'neill does seem a cut above as a coach and tactician. Lampard is more a really good man motivator but not enough in the prem perhaps. Time will tell. | |

Awful support after them not being in the PL for donkey’s years. The least they could do is support when the going gets tough.
Some of them were surprisingly over-confident in pre-season. It probably doesn’t help that the press spent the summer blowing smoke up Super Franky Lampard’s back passage. But still. It’s a brutal league and they’ve been out of it for far too long to appreciate how brutal. |  |

It’s easy to be well run when you’re literally just picking up royalties of millions from streaming and using it to buy better players than clubs who have fanbases more than double in some cases, triple in others, who just so happened not to have their success fall during the media money era. Those same fans laugh at us, even though the best they can hope to ever win is a rebranded Intertoto nonsense cup that embarrassingly some treat as a major trophy.
It’s more impressive that Norwich have managed to fk up their chance at that so spectacularly, but they sacked a quality manager who promoted them twice.

‘I'm sure I will get the 'you're overly emotional' spiel, but what is the actual point?
We spend a quarter of a feckin century backing us in the likes of groundshares, league 2 etx, all in the hope that one day its our name in lights amongst the big boys, that one day we will be back and showing the best of ourselves, Coventry City the great escapists, the ones who always gave the big boys a bl00dy nose at least twice a season.
And then after all that sh1t we went through, the holy grail is in fact an insipid, boring, money grabbing, pile of cat poo that saps the life and any enjoyment out of it when you get there.
Like whats actually the feckin point? We go down great, we will be in a good position to get back. But im not feckin sure we would want to. Its an absolute world away from the league i remember as a child and its feckin soul destroying’ |  |

For the likes of us and Coventry, with no Premier League income in a double of decades, the key is to use it, first and foremost, to ensure promotion from the Championship the following season then investing after, with any luck, the second promotion - much like we've done.
Admittedly what Hull are managing to do at the moment is remarkable. | |

Can be very humbling to find out exactly how big the gap is between the top 2 divisions in this country. We know! We learned the hard way. Coventry may perhaps need to do the same. Still early days, but a rut early on for a newly promoted team isn't promising. |  | | |
