Those criticising Norwood don’t understand the meaning of the word support 22:34 - Feb 11 with 1285 viewsCopfordBlue

He’s got a great attitude and contributed plenty during the first part of the season. He’s going through a bad spell and lacking confidence. He needs our backing now more than ever, not sniping and moaning. If you think we’ll get a striker with a better goal scoring record to replace him you’re dreaming.

I share the frustration about Lambert, Evans, recent results, style of play etc but singling out a bloke who has been here 6 months and given his all in every game I’ve seen him play is, in my opinion poor.

I actually won’t criticise, I think he’s the only one with bite, the only one who will shoot on sight, he is more of threat I personally feel than any of the others.

Things aren’t clicking right now, but he still has 11 goals.

He has a relentless shoot on sight policy, and I’ll never knock a striker for that.

Yes agree, only one who looked like he might get a goal tonight.

he has not been as clinical as we would like. And probably never will be. But was the only one to actually go close on a couple of occasions.

He will probably never be that clinical, but I seem to remember Tranmere fans saying the same.

I won’t knock him though, the only one right now who carries a threat.

He never came here claiming to be a brilliant striker. We, the fans, built him up because of the goals he scored in the national league and league two for Tranmere. He misses plenty but if his conversion rate was better he’d be in the premier league. If he plays the rest of the season I still think he’ll be at or close to 20 goals.

Yep. We accepted this on the basis that we expected Norwood to get a bagful of chances each game. Unfortunately, he is feeding on scraps. He'd flourish in a Peterborough shirt I am sure.

I think it's obvious that all our forwards are suffering from mediocre service. Some of this is the midfield playing some nice keep-ball in the middle which then half the time just ends up back at Holy's feet for a hoof. Some of it is the defence deciding not to bother at all with the midfield and just floating it hopefully down the line or across the field.

Norwood has shown he can find the net consistently at lower levels. That said, I have been disappointed with his finishing when one on one several times this season, especially for someone I would have thought was at his best in those situations.

He isnt a very good striker. Quite clearly this League is his ceiling.

I don't think any of the players should get abuse from the stands - its not like its a lack of effort and they can't help having an incompetent manager.

Being critical of player performances on here however is perfectly fair however- it is a discussion forum after all.

Like I say, hes not a great striker but his movement is decent for this level and he has a bit of physicality too. Its just we create so little we cant really afford a striker who is only converting 1 of every 3 or 4 chances

The reality is we can't afford, or don't want to afford anybody better.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
