"The Prime Minister has also made his position extremely clear and while many people might want Dominic Cummings to go, if the police do not view the issue as worth investigating further then it would undermine all those holding positions in the public sector if Mr Cummings was sacked due the media pressure surrounding this incident."

Maybe I'm missing the point but is that not a load of cobblers? I've been sacked from a job before for failures, yet it didn't require a police investigation... Likewise, many of those who have been sacked for a breach of conduct haven't needed one - in most cases, it is down to the employer*

I realise the DC is over now and there are bigger things to deal with but this just seems like a really poorly thought out defence from Derek 'yes man' Thomas MP.

*of course there are tribunals etc

Are SpAds actually public servants? There's a bit of grey area there.

But now we're drilling into such minutiae that it's clear DC has won.

Depends how you define winning. He’s still a twit hated by many people, so not so much of a winner imo.

I read it as it would undermine the police's jobs (and others) if their words weren't final, rather than it being a threat to jobs in the public sector.

Good point. Must be my tired eyes and brain. I read it as DC's job would be under threat. Maybe time for Horlicks, even though it's disgusting.

P.S. You should at least lambast him for not using the conditional 'were'. Withdraw the whip on that basis alone.

Yes, it would be best if they checked their eyesight.

Apparently there is somewhere in County Durham that specialises in such things.
