Masks at schools 17:01 - Aug 25 with 900 views | homer_123 | what's the point? I mean...i go to a garden centre and have to wear one walking about but not in the coffee shop. Kids can wear masks in the corridor or communal areas but not in class? A bit mad really. Either wear masks full stop or not...end of.

Masks at schools on 17:07 - Aug 25 with 878 views | WarkTheWarkITFC | Why is it so difficult for people to grasp that some people wearing masks is better than nobody wearing them and wearing them in some places is better than not wearing them anywhere. Had this with a muppet in a Burger King recently. Refused to wear one walking in as he was going to be eating 'in a moment' and didn't have to wear one then. The difference was people eating were sitting far apart on tables whilst this muppet was standing next to a load of people waiting for his order. Again he might infect 10 people whilst eating without it on if the tables aren't socially distanced instead of infecting all 20 people in there instead. This is still helpful and across and an entire country is the difference between the NHS coping and not. What your example suggests (if we assume everyone has COVID and can spread it) is that the virus potentially won't be as spread as much in the garden centre as it is in the coffee shop, which is again surely better than spreading it as much as the coffee shop! I have no issue with mask wearing. But surely the simple and easy solution to make things as safe as possible and to minimise confusion is to simply make masks mandatory. Simple, clear and easy to understand.

Absolutely. Given that science seems to accept the benefit of not spreading it by wearing one then they should simply be compulsory everywhere with clear exceptions like medical conditions, eating or drinking, playing sport and so on. As we all know the Government is making it up as they go along. Only last week you could sit on a packed beach but not stand amongst 10 other people at a non league match. Loads of inconsistencies.

I saw a large group of kids in Bury, who all stopped outside a shop....all got their masks out, made sure they were fitting correctly before going into the said shop. It was great to see such maturity, kudos to the kids.

That’s a pretty big assumption though in your final paragraph given that hardly anybody has COVID. One in every 2200 isn’t it and 90% of the population live in an area that hasn’t had a case in a month. I get your argument but in my opinion Sweden is the only country in the world who have dealt with this with any sanity. I was on holiday there in March, I wish I’d missed my return flight and every subsequent one.

It’s hypothetical. We don’t know who has it. But assuming everyone has then some people wearing masks will slow the spread as opposed to nobody. The exact same thing applies if 1 in 1000 have it or 1 in a million. It’s still reducing the risk overall.

Masks at schools on 20:44 - Aug 25 with 667 views | stonojnr | it helps parents worried they are sending their kids off to a germ factory feel theyll be "safer", because else all that will happen if we rewind back to March when this all started, parents just kept their kids off school worried theyd catch it, so teaching classes became impossible with only half the kids there, so schools shut. I mean the corridor thing is stupid excuse anyway, even I can remember at school we had circumstances, probably when there was building work, where the whole school didnt turf out into the corridors all at once and only set classes were allowed out together
