Loads of positives today.. 14:34 - Sep 13 with 738 viewsWallingford_Boy

Chambo at right back, the midfield three, in particular Dozzell, Edwards energy when he came on.

But the half time sub was weird, thought Drinan looked excellent and then on came Norwood....
Other than a couple of runs chasing down centre backs, he looked uninterested! Stuck out on the sidelines, not bothering to get back central, hands on hips.. looked exhausted, clearly not fit. And then when he just turned away and didn’t join in the celebrations with Edwards goal.. he almost seemed annoyed it wasn’t him that scored.

Am I reading too much into it? Is it just rustiness after being out for so long! Is he thinking about his 18 holes later?

RIP Sir Bobby

Thought the midfield went missing in the second half. Dozzell really isnt all that. Is to lightweight.

I was slightly surprised Bishop went off over him for Huws but he had faded as well. It's keeping the intensity which we struggled with today.

We faded badly in the second half which is a concern, but overall moderately encouraged by that.

Dozzell was class first half when we actually played through the midfield, second half the defence and Holy went far too long to often, which prevented Dozzell having tbe same level of impact.

Was always going to be the case after a 5 month lay-off and a short pre-season.

Very early days and I would not underestimate how the five month break has impacted the players physically. They will take time to fully get back up to speed. Those who have had injuries such as Norwood even more so.

Chambo had a good game and I think Nsiala and Wilson are competent at this level. Nsiala won a lot of headers against Garner. Ward is a good addition to the squad. The three in the middle impressed at times and we do look like we are going to create more opportunities with this system than we did last year. I thought Dozzell had a decent game.

Sears is going to be an important player for us this season and good to see an Edwards cameo, just need to see it more often.

I thought Drinan did well in the first half and unless he had picked up a knock, I am not sure he deserved to be hoiked at half-time.

So agree with OP, a number of positives from today and something to build on.
