So it's said. He denied that he caused the deaths of any though.

He somehow simultaneously denied it and regretted it. And he didn’t think he was disloyal because he had apparently never felt loyalty in the first place.

Well as long as he denied it. I’m guessing those nice Russians, at the height of the Cold War, would have seen the funny side to capturing British agents and simply let them go. Saying that, past British governments or intelligence agencies would have been just as harsh with opposing spies. [Post edited 26 Dec 2020 14:32]

Must have been a tad strange for him, as his loyalties were to the Communist Soviet Union. But he lived long enough to see it dissolved and replaced with capitalism. Who knows what he thought of the present Russian state.

He apparently quite enjoyed getting medals from Putin, so I would say he was quite OK with it.

Something of his ego survives after his death in the form of that quote. So he was wrong, the great, big thicko. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

500+ he reckons he bubbled on. It's claimed at least 42 died because of his actions. He denies that bit l believe.
George Blake RIP on 10:33 - Dec 27 with 630 views | Ryorry | Traitor to his country who betrayed colleagues leading to their deaths is no joking matter. Low-life like him living till his late 90s while children die of cancer is beyond unfair & one of the reasons you know there's no such thing as a "God".
