Dan Carter retires from playing Rugby 09:16 - Feb 20 with 587 viewsKeno

Last game in front of 300 people for his home club.

Sporting legend in every sense of the word and probably the second best ever fly half behind Ronan O'Gara

Ronan over Jonny? That's a strange shout.

I assumed he was joking. Even Keno couldn’t manage to suggest that with a straight face.

That's like saying Lambert over Sir Bob.

2005 Lions tour - the game at Wellington, he proper blew us out the water :-)

Shame he's not getting the send off he deserves.

It's a whisker between him and jonny, Woodward made the point that Carter is the best attacking 10 of all time and Jonny is the best defensive 10, can't really argue with that.

that's not a bad shout.

Two very interesting 10, 12 & 13's in that equation as well

Carter, Nonu (sp) and Conrad Smith

or

Wilkinson, Greenwood & Tyndal

That's an incredible call, probably have to go with Nonu and Conrad as they had more success over a longer period.

Conrad Smith was a magician on the field and complimented Nonu's crash ball so eloquently.

But what we would give for a Greenwood/ Tindall/ Wilco axis right now.

He won that game single handedly.

From what I have read this morning, sounds like he had the perfect send off, back playing for his hometown club in front of 300 and beers in the clubhouse after, no fanfare, no media, old school Rugby.

Quite a fitting and poignant end.

I would agree with that, Conrad Smith is probably my favourite player who seemed to make everything look effortless

England have struggled to get exit right in recent years

Finally shut Woodward up who had spent the whole week complaining about the tackle on O'Driscoll.

There was no debate as to which was the better team, by some distance tbf.

its an amazing end to such an career but ny all accounts very fitting with what he was like.

I remember a seeing a documentary about the all blacks a couple year back in which the one of the coaches said both he and McGraw were such genuine rugby fans that after al training they would usually wander over the junior squads and start joining in with them

You should do a NZ Lions tour if you can. The whole place lives/breathes rugby - plus of course it is a stunning place anyway.

Only downside is they are in the middle of a NZ winter which can be chilly. And they are not the most gracious of winners but no where near as bad as the Aussies.

The guy is an absolute legend, and by all accounts a real good guy too. I actually thought he was older than that though I must confess.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
