The remote has started being jumpy - any ideas why
How long do they last? mine is about four years old and I wonder if its getting old

The charging thing hasn't flashed up but I'll leave it on charge over night and see if that helps | |

Is it 4th gen+? Is the remote the long black one that has Siri or the thin silver remote? If it’s the black remote it may just need charging. There’s a little port in the side which charges like an iPhone. The black remotes are about £60 to buy.
If it’s a more recent Apple TV model and you have an iPhone that is less than three years old then you can bin the remote. Just slide down top right and you’ll get the control panel which has a built in remote. |  |

Next time you upgrade your TV check that it has the Apple TV built in ap. I’ve given two Apple TV boxes to the kids now as the new tv’s have made them obsolete.

There's an ap to check for signals from a control.
We had problem with our JVC control, son downloaded the so and it showed the one button had gotten stuck in a "depressed" state ( and I don't mean like Marvin)
So had to remove batteries, take apart the control and cleaned it. Kids of varying ages tend to use controls with good covered hands, all of which finally has a consequence. [Post edited 8 Mar 2021 21:33]

Use your phone’s volume buttons while the remote app is open to change the volume. Took me ages to accidentally figure that one out! |  | | |

No trouble with mine 3-4 yrs now, must admit I do stream ifollow iPad to tv box, seems to work well, can’t remember last time I charged it, let us know if charging cures it. | | | |
