How many end up hospital is the number you need to track, as those getting infected now and ending up in hospital are unlikely to die but still clog up the hospitals.

ICU beds up 40%

Case rates continue to be highest in those aged 20 to 29, with a case rate of 195.9 per 100,000 population.

The lowest case rates were in those aged 80 and above, with a rate of 9.6 per 100,000 population.

It is for those who get not-quite-hospitalised sick and then end up with long covid.

What does that mean in terms of numbers? If there were 10 hospitalisations last month and there are now 15 then its a 50% increase but in reality it's still very low.

Never say never, but no very unlikely.

It would need a variant completely resistant to vaccines to trigger something like that
