For those of you too young to remember....The finest music event EVER (even with a small dose of 'Give us you f***ing money now' thrown in) plus (possibly the best ever 20 mins on stage of any band/artist with Queen and Bowie as a very close second).

Was in the car park listening to Queen and waiting to go to a Dire Straits concert at Wembley Arena (once they'd finished Live Aid of course).
There was a 'Live Aid' documentary on TV a few years back. They interviewed 2 police special constables who were on duty at Wembley for the day. Somebody from the band had approached them and asked for help in controlling the crowds/traffic in order to get their equipment from the stadium to the arena next door. The roadies said to the specials...'We're in Dire Straits' and neither of the aging specials had heard of 'Dire Straits' so the reply was 'Yes. We think you are in dire straights. You'll never get through that lot so why don't you stay and just enjoy the music ??'.

Watched some Live Aid clips on YouTube recently and noticed Sting on stage performing with Dire Straits and then hanging out on stage while Phil Collins did his thing. Wondering if he was on stage for most of the concert.

Here we go :)
While the cause was the thing, Queen took it as an chance to try and reinvent themselves into the 80's, Thatcherite dinner party rock lite. See also U2. Bob might not have liked Mondays, I really didn't like the 80's, sorry!

It's seen as a major step in the making of U2 isn't it.
Watched most of it - Quo were excellent, Thompson Twins.... it was sweltering here that day, so I spent time in the garden, so missed a few bands. Had a nap about 4pm as the sun had wiped me out, but got up to see U2, and they were the best thing there for me.
