It’s almost like the EFL isn’t fit for purpose

I think that if you are under an embargo, you may still sign players who are out of contract.

All are frees or loans, but they aren’t exactly cheap deals when your wage bill is apparently already 150% of your turnover An embargo should be an embargo, not allowing an already bloated club to add more expensive signings?

Depends on the terms of embargo. Derby could sign 6 players on a free or loan.

Are there further conditions or can they be any length of deal and no wage cap? I thought the conditions on Derby were a bit limiting. There has to be both a punishment aspect and the freedom for a club that is still financially solvent to put together a team to just about compete at the level they are at.

Again depends on embargo applied. Derby is max 1 year deal and no wage above 8k. Plus no more than 6 players | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Reading and their ‘embargo’ on 21:17 - Aug 31 with 558 views | Radlett_blue | I do wonder what Town's new owners' strategy is to get out of the Championship. They won't get a return on their investment unless Town reach the PL. Are they prepared to lose the huge sums apparently necessary even to have a shot at this?

If we time it right there's a fair number of champ players contracts ending next summer.
