Wayne Rooney dipping his toe into the world of NFT 15:37 - Oct 28 with 802 viewsIllinoisblue

I suspect he knows as much about it as me but is no doubt getting nicely rewarded for it. Mind you, he could have put a little more effort into the promo vid.

A friend has been selling on there for a while. He started creating 3D Bathing Ape type characters and there's a whole community around it now. Sold a couple for a few grand a piece and since then it's taken off. He quit his job a few weeks back as he had three separate bids on three separate pieces upward of £100k a piece!

Mental.

Beyond mental. My first thought is money laundering and/or other financial shenanigans. But that may be an irrational response to something I don’t understand.

I’d never heard of Haslet until yesterday. It sounds awful. Is it a fancy name for meatloaf?

I am still on my learning curve with NFTs and they are definitely not something I fully understand. Cryptocurrencies I am now comfortable investing in as I understand what I am buying etc (Well most of them anyway!). NFTs, still can't quite grasp the desire for ownership as it all seems like a massive flex. (ooo look i own this Bored Ape NFT....)

However, there are lots of people who I trust know more about the future direction of tech than i do are in on these.

The future is going to be very different from the current when it comes to assets ownership

If Keane’s mate had drawn a picture of a monkey on a piece of paper would people be paying thousands for it? Probably not. I feel there’s something obvious I must be missing. I recall a couple decades ago (at least) chatting to my brother as we were driving through town and saying there’s no way all these mobile phone shops will last. That’s a bubble waiting to burst. So, lump on NFT I guess!
