Arsenal / Crypto 14:00 - Dec 12 with 1705 viewspennblue

Interesting to see what Arsenal are up to:

I also noticed Palace have now go into Crypto as well:

Quite interesting - especially the fan based polls. Maybe we can vote on the next manager after all?

All a giant scam designed by shysters and fraudsters to rip off gullible football fans. “Fan tokens” ffs.

You can vote on the shade of the carpet in the training ground caretaker’s bathroom and that’s about it - it’s an awful, dangerous scam and nothing to do with involving fans.

Totally agree it’s a money making scheme designed to increase revenue from a worldwide fan base

But there are quite a few premier league clubs doing it

"All a giant scam designed by shysters and fraudsters to rip off gullible football fans."

I mean, that wouldn't have been an unreasonable tagline for our season ticket campaigns over the last 15 years.

With respects, do you actually understand what they are offering and what Chiliz blockchain is all about?

In the non-too-distant future, you won't be buying Panini stickers to go into your album, you will be buying/swapping/trading NFTs to be stored in your virtual album. It's similar to photos these days most are already virtualised.

I really hope I'm not.

Imagine paying for a digital receipt that says you own a picture with Ronaldo on it. That's all NFT's are.

Oh and they're awful for the environment too.

Lovely to see clubs leveraging fan loyalty in order to sell them a pyramid scheme, sorry, “enhance the fan experience”.

As miserable as the last 15 or so years of supporting Ipswich have been, I'm really glad we're not "big" enough to start pulling any of this nonsense.

Hey kids Dads just got to log in and buy some NFT for your sticker wallet. That’s really going to catch on. Like all crypto it’s a scam and a money laundering paradise.

It's the way the world is going.

When you buy a Panini Ronaldo sticker for your sticker book, do you actually own the rights to the picture? No you don't. You own a physical copy of that picture, that's it.

You mean like people buying skins for Fortnite or buying different characters for Minecraft? Or maybe a youngster you knew wanted some Roblox bux for Roblox so they could buy a new outfit for the game. Or maybe an in-game pet.....

Absolutely the same idea.

You don't own the rights to a NFT either. You own a little line that says you own it but practically means absolutely nothing. It's like me saying I own the Mona Lisa because I have a little piece of paper in a cleaning cupboard nearby that says I do.

Nobody can right click and save my panini stickers to get the exact same experience either.

Spot on, which is why they are a good thing to compare. You don't own these assets, you simply own a representation or an instance of them. That's true whether it's a real-life or virtual version of the Panini sticker book.

Somebody could however borrow your book, photocopy a page of it and print out a copy, cut out the relevant required stickers and stick it in their book. Not the same experience as opening packs...

Panini have already started on this path with virtual sticker books. ( https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/news/0267-11e159d249a8-17bf0c134364-1000--pan

You have already been buying digital assets but you don't realise it.

When did you last have a physical plane ticket? Or a cinema ticket? Even an in-game purchase.....

All of which are a total con. Give us your money and we’ll give you a box of something for the game, give us more money to get another box. It’s not dissimilar to slot machines you are giving them money in hope you might get something useful but if you don’t they will say better luck next time.
