It won't get swept under the carpet. Counties will take tough action like a diplomatic ban of the winter Olympics that kind of thing....hard biting measures like letting athletes speak out if they want to.

I feel very sorry for the Hong Kongers.

They should have been able to come to Britain in unlimited numbers when China took it back but Major refused.

There are millions more people in HK who don't qualify for that scheme, though, and, as the article states, it's a very slow process, and one which the Chinese Government can disrupt for any individual at will.
