What makes a good referee? 21:48 - Feb 2 with 796 views | TresBonne | Not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but have my first game tomorrow! U13 level. Knowing my luck the coaches will be Neil Warnock & Steve Evans. What do you think makes a good ref? [Post edited 2 Feb 2022 21:51]

Tell the managers they can have 10 minutes after the game to discuss anything but that's it. And enjoy it. Also remember people have their own interpretations of rules. You will know them and that's all that matters.

I’d second that. Was very rare to have any problems with the players at that age group, it was always parents and occasionally coaches that caused problems. Think I only ever cautioned one player at under-16 or lower but submitted numerous misconduct reports to Leagues about spectators and coaches behaviour. Of course when you work your way up to adult football that all changes and control of players becomes much more challenging!

When a team scores, go up to the opposing goalkeeper and shout "in your face" really loudly
