Five wins out of seven for McKenna 17:46 - Feb 5 with 810 viewsSteve_M

Yes, today was crap pretty much every time we got on the ball but Gillingham were much improved from a month ago. Too much of a mess made of simple things and it three front players rarely linked up at all.

Still, a crappy win is still a win and the points gained under McK keep us in touch. Win again on Tuesday now and see what happens next weekend.

It would be nice if the crowd could be a little more patient too, no need to clap along at bad balls but the readiness to resort to howls of abuse is a bit much.

It’s mad that even with 5 wins out of 7 we’re no closer than we were a month ago

That's a bit of a false indication. A few of those games in hand have tightened up now.

Oxford are the team to gun for but we have to beat them in March.

That leaves 6 points to make up on them in 15 games. Doesn't sound so bad then.

I'd say 15% chance of doing it, but it's a chance.

Absolutely dire performance today, shockingly bad. Let’s call a spade a spade, 4 of our last 5 performances have been crap. And the other was nothing to write home about.

The result is the main thing at this stage, and great to get the 3 points which keeps the season alive, but the performances are really concerning. The amount of basic, unforced errors we made today was terrible. Sloppy balls out from the back and in the middle, some rudimentary passes in forward areas that weren’t executed. So sloppy.

Not really mad. We knew teams nearer the top were also picking up points regularly.

We’re an average side, our performances are the standard of this league, just doing enough to get by but not good enough to get promoted. This mob would be hammered in the Championship, miles off, our backline would never cope with that level, neither would our midfielders, far too slow.
