...how on earth did VAR not give that handball?
Oh yes...its Man City. The FA's choice for Champions this year.

The ruling has changed I'm sure, top of the arm is not handball now..

I think it's because we're on version 57.6 of changing the handball rule to a point where none of us have any idea what's going on.

Define top of the arm....from the elbow up.
That hit him full square on the bicep.

Rule appears to be to draw a line from the armpit across.

Exactly - it hit him. Never a handball in my view, but the interpretation of the law has become absurd.

It hit him! For goodness sakes man. He controlled the ball from the action. All day handball.

I haven’t seen the incident but this is what is defined as part of the arm which cannot be defined as a handball:

It looked stonewall to me. The look on the player’s face said ‘oh noooo, made a rick there’. He knew it alright.

With VAR I can only think that if it had happened at the other end, it would have been given.

What I don't get is why couldn't the ref take a look himself too? clearly in game speed meant he was never going to give that as a pen without VAR, he should then get the right to review the screen himself not some random who's had a cheeky tenner on man city.

Btw clearly joking about the tenner,

a niche perspective

The ref can only go look at it again if he gave the pen and then VAR think he's made the wrong decision and will ask him to take a look at it...
