Agreed. Although I don’t think Guido is that different from much of our established media. They also spend most of their time circulating rumours, briefings and opinions to keep the game of politics going rather than to speak truth to power.
Cadwalladr also mentions Andrew Neil here – I think him and the core Spectator lot play just as big a part in ruining public discourse as self-appointed arbiters of who and what is important in our politics. When their viewpoint is objectively fairly extreme, narrow and outdated in a supposed western capitalist democracy in 2022.
But seeing who Guido is and sidelining him is still an important, healthy start. |  |
