Great article. I was there! Occasional reminder that the Lyall promotion is the greatest achievement in the club’s history.

It’s not the greatest achievement in the club’s history as well you know.

Without a doubt it is. We were one of the best teams in the world in 81. 78 was superb but things were a bit more even then, same for the Division One win. It was possible to compete in a fairly even playing field. The Lyall promotion was achieved by a team of misfits cast offs old timers and youth players with zero money spent in the face of Blackburn Derby and Newcastle all spending loads.

A great day out at Roots Hall on 13:26 - Apr 5 with 888 views | Swansea_Blue | I enjoyed that. I think it's the only time I've been to Roots hall. But I can't say I remember that much about the game apart from some carnage at the end!

A great day out at Roots Hall on 19:13 - Apr 5 with 718 views | Coastalblue | I ended up in the players lounge afterward, went with a guy that knew Chris Powell quite well. I was quite inebruated at this point and remember trying to chat to Stockwell who looked terrified, made excuses and disappeared.

It was such a special time wasn’t it? Football was back in vogue after Italia 90, and Ipswich were riding that wave. That is when the North stand genuinely rocked, with away fans in the same end separated by a wire fence. TWTD indeed!

Haha! I genuinely believe it. It’s the best thing the club have ever done.
