Should u21s have agents 18:47 - Apr 21 with 1230 views | FrimleyBlue | Or do you think they should be handled by a league chosen organisation? How many player movements are in the interests of the player and not weighted by the thoughts of agents who can make a pretty fortune just by pressuring a youngster into moving on. We don't know for certain this is the case with Simpson, but with Ashton's comments, you can't think anything other than agent at play here, it's a shame as what ever his next club decision is, it could indeed be a great move, or could end up ruining what could be his football career. I'd understand it a bit more if it were still PC in charge. But surely someone who has indeed come from such a backround at the biggest academies in football, you'd think this manager would probably be the most knowledgeable into what makes a good pathway into senior football and one you'd want to put your trust into....

Should u21s have agents on 19:20 - Apr 21 with 1169 views | Darth_Koont | Absolutely they should have agents. There’s no way a modern professional football club’s interests and theirs are fully aligned all the time. It’s an industry for both parties. There’s an issue with certain agents’ integrity and incentives clearly. But that’s a separate discussion. So I take your point about a more neutral organisation looking after players’ interests and advising more generally. But I guess that’s the PFA.

The main issue with Agents is who pays their fees. So many conflicts of interest. Clubs should not pay any fee to an agent who is retained by the player.

Should u21s have agents on 21:04 - Apr 21 with 1057 views | jontysnut | Yes. My lad had an agent when he was a first year pro. It's not about money at that stage as he was earning f all. It's more about having someone with contacts for whatever the next move might be and the odd pair of free boots. He was no Jonathan Barnett. Occasionally they might strike lucky but its probably the equivalent of being Daniel Craig's agent compared to representing someone in rep at the Wolsey.
