Boris Johnson getting booed today: tut tut, can’t have that, lowering of standards. Whatever happened to respecting the office of prime minister?

Harry and Meghan Markle also getting booed today: what’s that? Can’t hear you.

When the Union Jack bowler hat and waistcoat brigade start booing you must know that time's just about up.

They won’t be mentioning it, had a quick squiz and it’s literally Meghan and Harry getting booed, 30 articles about the royal family and one saying we should forget partygate as we are financially, politically and socially in a great place….guffaw.

It is literally a Royals and Tory love in.

Meghan and Harry got loud cheers, that’s what I heard whilst watching it on the BBC anyway [shrug]

If they do mention it, it will most likely be a theme of “evil witch deserved it”

The BBC reported a mixture of boos and cheers for Johnson - I guess they had to do that, they are worried about the license fee.

The Express reported boos for Harry and Meghan - again predictable.

The New York Times reported loud cheers for Harry and Meghan - not sure about this, but it is possible they are telling the truth.

Personally I usually don't care about these royal occasions, but I am now well on the way to becoming a Republican when the present incumbent is no longer with us.

It would interesting to hear why DaveU disagrees with this post.

There's the fact of how a couple of different outlets have reported the day and how it panned out.

Like most he still respects the current monarch but feels the concept has outlived itself, so what's the issue?

Exactly, and why shouldn’t they. What’s happened has passed and they have made decisions that work best for them and the RF have made decisions that work for them, there was no way they should have not been here, they have a part to play and are doing so and looking like they’re enjoying it .

I suspect, like the CoE, the whole absurdity will simply become more of an irrelevance as the years go by.

Other than Anne, the rest have been shown to be little more than a family of dodgy sorts on the take.

The numbers who see their lives as being better than furriners, because they have a royal family will always be with us. Just as those who imagine there is an after life, and some old geezer is hiding in the clouds, though less prone to smiting folk than previous.

There is now little mention of the devil, or even hell come to that.

The Catholic Church is seen as a haven for paedophiles and retains excessive wealth, whilst indulging in all manner of absurd ceremonies, whilst got up in Ruritanian fancy dress.

Much as the Royal family some might say, though I would draw the line at comparing Andrew to the devil...as to the rest, well.....
