Still a long way to go, but this partnership has provided a really good platform now. India desperately need wickets and there's the first one.... Still, 271 to win looks a lot smaller than 378.

That first wicket had had a massive effect on India, they were totally flat beforehand. Need another partnership to quieten them down again. Shame as Lees as had been excellent today up until then, thought Crawley was very good too.

Yep. Can change in an instant. Was driving and listening, sounded like there was a change of ball just before the first wicket? We sounded in complete control prior to that. Def need a partnership here. Ton plus at very least I'd argue.

yes, the ball was changed and maybe that made a difference. Was an excellent piece of bowling from Burma all the same.

How about 150 unbeaten at the end of the day? England 260/3, 118 needed tomorrow. Another full house at Edgbaston tomorrow and another positive decision not to charge for tickets. Guess I can't justify WFH tomorrow given it's my first day back after a week off.

If this test was played when it should have been, it is very possible this would have been all over by now, or least 8 or 9 wickets down for about 70-80 less runs. India may well have shot themselves in the foot with their collapse this morning, and yet subsequently thinking 378 was plenty, which usually, it should be. This new approach from England is catching them out, like NZ before. 118 needed doesn't sound a lot but two quick wickets tomorrow and it tilts the scales again. What a game test cricket is. Nothing like it.

Yes, India were pretty poor this morning. I suppose that England staying in touch with the best part of 300 in the first innings helps too. England collapsed very badly at Lord's and the Oval last year when there were chasable targets, in the former after letting India's tail get some soft runs - one of those Tests where Root's failings as captain stop out. Yes, wickets could change this but a good first hour for England could wrap things up the other way quite quickly. I'm certainly enjoying Test cricket again this Summer and that will be the case what ever happens tomorrow. [Post edited 4 Jul 2022 20:40]

Only a fool would try and predict today's cricket match on 19:01 - Jul 4 with 704 views | Icantbelieveyousaidt | England's new regime is a resemblance to ours at ITFC. Do it our way; don't listen to the knockers etc about who we should sell/buy/pick/play etc! Think about it; Lees and Crawley the fastest opening century partnership ever for England; and England have been playing tests since what is it...1870 something. Yet so many would have had them both out, well especially Crawley; and we haven't even mentioned Bairstow who several pensioned off ages ago!! Yes, of course the game is still in the balance, but 24 hours ago who would have predicted that!!

Only a fool would try and predict today's cricket match on 20:45 - Jul 4 with 559 views | IpswichKnight | England bowled so much better today, short balls were targeted at the body making not letting players have a nice easy free hit. England then went into semi one day mode positive batting. That said some of the Indian tactics were strange, singles were freely available Root and Bairstow were like thanks we’ll take 5/6 an over with no risk.
