Still surprised we didn't take our option to buy.

If Ball is a clear upgrade then fair enough but Bakinson had just got into his stride towards the end of the season and looked a great option alongside Morsy. Can see him being a big player in L1.

Poll: Pick a goal to win the derby in stoppage time...

Happy either way tbh. He has talent and yoof on his side, but KM has hardly crawled over broken glass to sign him which suggests he thinks there are better options.

Bakinson was a young player from a Championship side that looked promising.

We managed to get a Championship regular over 3 seasons in a passing side in their prime instead.

Think Bakinson will have a very good career in the game, but believe Ball is vastly superior at this stage and more suited to what we need - a promotion winning side.

Evening Ipswich fans !

As a Wednesday fan what was he like ? What can we expect and would you be disappointed if we signed him?

Thanks in advance

Decent L1 midfielder... Loses a lot of 50-50's for a big guy 6foot 4", though... Took a while to settle here. But in fairness he never played in a settled MF. . Had different MF partners , regularly in his first 6-7 matches for us.. In my honest opinion, he never looked like a midfield General and could probably do with a better or more experienced/composed player alongside him...
He's not a bad link up player. But expect him to give the ball away cheaply, when he's not on it.. He'll add some height to your squad, without a great aerial presence.. He chipped in with a couple of goals for us, including a really well taken strike from the edge of the box in our final game against Charlton.. He looked good in that game. But, it was a game with nothing hanging on it and no pressure.. Some of our more pressurized games, he looked a bit scrappy for me... Overall, a bulk standard L1 midfielder, with perhaps a tiny bit of potential yet to achieve... Would I have him in our squad? Yes, as a back up/rotation player.. Would I be disappointed if Wednesday signed him? Not particularly... He did alright for us as on loan. But didn't set the world on fire... Others may have a different opinion on him..

Agree with this, wanted a bit more out of him. He joined at a time when we were really desperate in midfield so did a job for us in a way. Always looked calm, even when giving the ball away.

Ball was free and Bakinson would have cost us a fee.

Personally I liked Bakinson, but he would have been behind Evans and Morsy as a cover player. Think he has time on his side though, and will no doubt get better.

He was certainly better than Carroll though.

I liked him, but he was still developing as a player.

He looks to get the ball forward and between the lines quickly, and sometimes this does mean that he loses possession.

He played a deep central midfield role for us, however I wouldn't say tackling is his best attribute. He will show for the ball and is relatively comfortable in receiving the ball from the defence.

Depending on the fee, think he will be a good signing. His value/worth has the chance of increasing with more game time.

I liked him a lot. He covered for both Morsy and Evans, and did well in their absence. He also chipped in with a couple of goals. I thought he was better than Evans, and would have been more than happy to sign him.

I would've taken him on a cheap / free deal as I think he has potential, but I doubt he'd get ahead of a fit Morsy, Ball or Evans. Grew into his spell here and is athletic, shows for the ball and has good feet. He loves to take a big touch, and somehow in two or three massive strides win it back. I liked that about him, although many found it frustrating and will single the former out. I personally thought he matched the Ashton model of having potential beyond his worth if he was coached or got his attitude right. No great loss, but someone I'll likely watch with interest to see if he can pull it all together.

Harper probably has the higher ceiling and this was probably a factor here, with Bakinson a few years ahead in his development.

No problem.

Bakinson would be fourth choice behind Morsy, Evans and Ball.

Thanks all for your feedback . To be honest he’s probably going to behind bannan will vaulks and George Byers anyway . Also got 2 other midfielders in Adenrian and Dele Bashiru (we’ve just rejected 500k from Blackpool for him ) but we tend to play 3 in the middle so need options , especially with the new 5 subs rule .

Sounds like we might have a decent player on our hands if we get him , just needs to develop a little more in some areas .

Morsy, Evans and Ball. Don’t need him.
