What a weekend that was 18:35 - Aug 15 with 1228 viewsMullet

Two scorching games in a row for me and McKenna really brought it didn't he? I expect the analysis has been done to death by now, but what a fitter, leaner and deeper cut of quality we look so far this season.

MK Dons fans might be making excuses but they'll be well off if they can't get lots of players back quickly and up to speed. Weak or not, we're finally taking teams apart and standing on their necks until the final whistle.

Portman Rd was hot as hell in Churchmans, Planet Blue and a brief couple of laps of the Fanzone were intolerable, so god knows what 90 mins out there was like.

It feels a bit like a cheat being allowed 5 subs when we can switch it up on teams like that but if it finally puts this league behind us for good who cares? I'm sick of it.

Blue Action you did well in that too. Could see and hear the effort from behind the goal all game.

On your second to last para.

You're MK Don's...3 down in 30 plus degree heat and you see by homer_123 13 Aug 2022 18:30
Aluko, Jackson, Edwards and Cats Nephew all come on.

I mean....how depressing must that be!

Yeah, you could see the difference it made and why Manning put their massive Jules up against Edwards etc to try and give us something to think about.

I can't get to Burton tomorrow annoyingly but think there's a good chance we can be unbeaten for a while yet if things continue as they are.

Pleased to see Leif Davis look like the player we had signed too, makes a big difference having a left and right side that pulls at teams' lines.

It was one of the more complete performances we've seen from Town for a while (I'm discounting Charlton as it was a dead rubber).

I still feel there is more to come from this squad mind, still relationships being developed but its so good to see that down both wings and through the middle we created and caused problems. Also noted that Ladapo doesn't mind the odd direct ball either...good to see.

Burton won't be a walk over but you'd hope 3 points is more than possible.

I thought there were several times in the game where Davis was in acres of space, but the centre backs and midfield were still playing the ball out to the right. Which to me seemed as thought they were playing out of habit how they played last year, as though it was ingrained "muscle memory" to always knock the ball out to Janoi / Burns on the right. What that says to me is that once Woolfie/Fridge/Evans/Morsy get used to having the option to knock it out to the left as often as they do to the right, we will be even more dangerous. It's great to see.

What I liked was we were shooting from distance more than we have for some time. At least 6 or 7 long rangers fizzing in. True we didn’t score directly from them but Burns’ shot did create the second goal. If we can add goals from distance as well as set pieces to go with our excellent build up play we will be sitting very pretty indeed.

Evans switched it out there a few times but everyone else had drifted right so Davis didn't always have a pass.David

The mixing up of long and short passing made us less predictable.

We are only 3 games in have previous false dawns in August. Don't want to wish my life away... But praying for May (the calendar month not the former PM and Tory calendar girl)

I think it was more about tiring out Lewington and keeping the ball on the shadier side too. Louis Barry had already showed he doesn't track back, so it kind of made sense.

Great to hear you enjoyed Saturday Mullet, it’s entertaining once again

Few things to add to…

Jeeze it was frickin hot… fan zone as you say was roasting.. great to hear from Chaplin that they’d trained at the height of the previous heat to acclimatise - and as you say we looked far fitter and stronger

I really hope we take the dominance and promise into Tuesday and put in a really dominant and clinical display and take the 3 points

Agree our subs look strong… but I’m not convinced they look effective yet… would love a goal from JJ, Aluko and Jackson

The atmosphere was rocking at times and it’s not just section 6… top of the north, bottom of the Cobbold and middle section of Pioneer were also going for it… feels a lot more energy and voice in the crowd… it’s what you get when you get waves of attack

Long may it continue
