Just looked back at 19/20 fixtures, we made a great start from August til October, and still were top at the end of January. Wheels completely falling off with 1 win end of Jan till March, horrific stuff.

Taking it game by game here, but pleased we got off to a flyer as a slow start would have made life very tricky for us.

The only Muff in Town.

The difference here is the performances have backed up results. The good start that season was mainly down to individual moments rather than a fully functioning team and it was obvious we wouldn’t sustain that.

Still keeping grounded though, our 4 wins have come against teams currently in the bottom 7. It’s good that we are able to dispatch these teams now but we’ll have some tougher periods and need to see how we handle them. Great start though and racking up a lot of points now will give us more leeway when those tough moments come.

Same number of points as we had at this stage of the 20/21 lockdown season. But as you say, difference so far has been performances.

Totally agree with this. I remember back then chatting with a mate who ridiculed me for being so pessimistic even though we were too, but you could just see in the performances that there was no substance behind them. Feel totally different this time around, but yes we need to keep our feet on the ground, as it’s a much tougher league now than it was then.

We played a lot of these 'bottom 7' kind of team start of last season. We didn't win many of them.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Last seasons start was basically down to the team not being in place until Sept and a handful of reoccurring individual mistakes letting teams take points. With that, we now know coaching set up was not all that therefore we may have struggled to maintain or build on a better start either way.
