Forest are signing someone else now 13:06 - Aug 29 with 2108 viewsMullet

This is astounding stuff, not only are they like Paul Cook with poorer impulse control but they're upsetting other teams now with this stuff.

Must boil Derby piss by the gallon too.

It’s genuinely fascinating what they’ve done. Turn over almost your entire promotion winning squad and spunk about 200million + wages in a race to finish 17th. I admire them for having a go but damn, it’s not difficult to hate what football has become.

They are certainly not following the Norwich promotion model for sure.

It will be interesting to see if it works for them. If it does it will no doubt become the blueprint for promoted sides in the next few seasons at least.

I can only assume they are adamant they will spend their way to be so solidified that they never go down and it catches up with them.

Once Bournemouth and then Brighton have imploded, will probably be their turn.

The Canaries absolutely got panned for not investing enough in their squad to be competitive in the EPL, but they didn't want to bankrupt the club by overspending. Now Forest show the complete opposite intention, buying players every day it seems, but they needed to as they had so many players on loan last season and now they face criticism from certain sections. So what do the so called EPL experts want exactly?! Seems like promoted teams can't win whatever approach they take it's wrong to try and remain in the EPL.

Not sure i agree with your two main points; the coverage I’ve seen and read about Forest is all positive and saying how great it is to have a proper football club back in the top tier. No “know your station” vibes at all. Also don’t get the bit about Forest being haunted by Hillsborough. Obviously their fans and players of that era witnessed horrors that day but to say the club is haunted by it?

Can’t remember who, but one of the big teams thumped Norwich and pundits, critic, journos absolutely tour them apart for ‘not even taking it seriously’ etc.

Then in the next breath having a hard on for the news of the new Newcastle owners and how much money they were going to throw around..

That perhaps encapsulated the media (and rest of the footballing world’s) obsession with spending money as the only sign of success, regardless of the source of the money.

We all dislike Norwich here but they atleast seemed to be an example to a lot of other clubs of success with a conservative budget and spending strategy (in comparison)

Yep loans and players out of contract, that's their defence and I would think that all these players that have come in have relegation release clauses too..

Lingard for example is on £180k a week, but only a one year deal.

Norwich were on of the highest spenders in Europe last season, 13th I think, they just spent it badly.

This suggests they were 13th highest spenders in the EPL, but yes you’re probably right that they needed to recruit better if Brentford were the lowest spenders and finished the season so well.
