Now there's a headline I wasn't expecting to see this morning! What other bizarre accusations of cheating have we seen in the sporting world? (not a debate over whether chess is a sport btw).
Moscow Olympics, didn't the Ruskies open the stadium doors (to create a draft) when their athletes were throwing the Javlin?
Also when they introduced gender tests (was it like the amount of testosterone or something?) a couple of female East European athletes were never heard of again.

Another controversy surrounded Soviet officials opening the stadium's gates when Soviet athletes were throwing, letting more wind in to aid the throws.[2][3][5] In Finland (which had three athletes in the final), the gate issue spurred much discussion and lived on in public memory for a long time;[5] KÅ«la was greeted with shouts of "open the gates!" when he competed in the 1983 World Championships in the Finnish capital, Helsinki,[6] and when the 2013 World Championships were held in Moscow the gate controversy again became a talking point.[5][7]
True according to Wiki. As for Eastern European athletes disappearing when proper drug testing was introduced this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Not quite as I recall. Spanish - tick. Basketball - tick. Wheelchairs - nope was athletes with "intellectual disability".
Pretty disgusting - not least cos a load of genuine participants were then denied the chance to compete at later paralympics.
Classification has long been contentious in the paralympics as much of this is subjective. Umpteen athletes are "reclassified" each year & I'm sure a good % of them are trying to get in a category which increases their chances of success.
At school our physcotic games teachers made us do cross country when the snow meant we couldnt play any normal sport. Couple of loops around various muddy paths in the freezing cold. No trackie bottoms, just normal PE kit.
A few of us would hide in a bush half way round and rejoin the race on the second lap. Had to make sure you didn't finish too high and risk being caught.
