Well done us!! on 07:49 - Oct 13 with 875 views | NthQldITFC | There are few people left who are too stupid or too uneducated to see the hideous effect our species with its consumerism fetish has had on nature, and yet most of us still carry on pleasuring ourselves as we delude ourselves that technology will fix what WE are responsible for. Wake up or die with the rest of nature.

Thoroughly depressing isn't it and yet the impacts of our economic model of choice have been clear as day for anybody wanting to see. The sense of powerlessness watching this unfold over my lifetime has been, and continues to be, thoroughly depressing.

That's the thing. The whole economic concept that we have lived under, continue to live under and are striving to power up further now, is so obviously wrong that a child can see it. It's either insanity or cowardice that makes us unable to let go of our pathetic delusions and embrace the challenge of selflessly trying to live in harmony with our finite, fragile and increasingly dead world. Or is it just that we don't care about our children's lives and futures and are going to take as much as we can get now? Because everybody else does.

I think we call the process of putting on the blinkers so as not to see the blindingly obvious "growing up" or some such!

That probably fits, because I don't think I ever have.

Well done us!! on 09:04 - Oct 13 with 696 views | Oldsmoker | Thanks for the congrats - much appreciated. I remember, back in the day when I had a garden..................zzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz......... some slugs were attacking my salad veg. As the major shareholder and CEO of the Veg Corporation I decided that dialog with the slugs was pointless. They were, after all, stealing from me. I invested in some high grade exterminator concoction from the garden centre and they all died. The veg was saved and the shareholder was happy. We can't change the world as an individual but we can change our little bit of the world if we want to. I like to think I've grown as I don't kill things indiscriminately anymore, but If I catch that pigeon who's been sh*tting on my car....................

Thus spake the billions, from their Persimmon castles of delusion, as the sewage- and plastic-ridden waves lapped against the Ikea drawbridge. [Post edited 13 Oct 2022 12:11]
