But how does it happen? Surely they must be using the same goal frames every match? Presumably they must somehow get warped when moving them for the rugby matches.

I reckon there are a load of clubs thinking 'what a bunch of w*nkers' and yet they haven't asked their own groundsmen to check their own goals.

Could it be the goal sockets were to high within the ground and it was quicker to saw the goals than to dig out the sockets and reset..
