I think Sky News is one of the better news channels. Unlike the BBC, it is not scared to criticise the government, but it would do the same if Labour were in power.
It's certainly not 99% fake news, unlike an awful lot of the nonsense floating about on the internet. [Post edited 20 Nov 2022 10:04]

The real problem is that news outlets put out much of what their readers/listeners want to hear/see. Even to the point of using vacuous newspeak like 'fake news'. A cliche unheard of a few years back.
While the Tory government breathes down its neck threatening its funding BBC will take a pro Tory line. To howls of outrage when it ever tries to be balanced.
Sky and commercial broadcasters are subject to their paymasters so will do what it takes to get the highest ratings ie covering relatively trivial subjects.
The fault lies around you, just as with politics. If folk demanded better it would change (possibly).
Hancock has used his position as an MP to launch some kind of 'celebrity' career away from Parliament and has been rightly condemned. The Gutbucket has spent far more days away from Parliament to do the same, yet has not had the same response to his skiving.

Agreed.
I have severe reservations about the quality, integrity and resulting role of our media but it’s certainly not even a majority of fake news let alone 99%.
To all intents and purposes outlets like GB News might as well be treated as fake news but overall our media is mid-barrel not bottom-scrapers like that. |  |
