It's like the BBC and ITV tried to pick crap commentators. You have the likes of Neville sitting in the studio for 15 mins at HT and for the other 90 we have to listen to absolute rubbish.
I can only think Neville's Sky contract does not let him do commentary for anyone else?

Quite frankly the guy is an idiot...with very little knowledge of how the game is played. Has he ever played?
l find Jonathan Pearce just as irritating. He mumbles as he talks, it gets quieter as he goes along until you can barely hear his voice over the crowd noise( although,thinking about it,thats a good thing).

The nature of commentary has changed over the years. Long ago, the commentator's main job was to identify the players & comment on anything unusual. Later, a co-commentator was added, usually an ex-pro who would summarise & add expert knowledge. How, the prime commentator's role is so-called "colour commentary", whereby his job is to over-dramatize every incident and add lots of near irrelevant statistics. No, I find much of it irritating, but the guys are largely doing what the producer tells them to do.
